How do you know paint protection film is genuine before you pay?
A fake film looks just like a genuine one on the first day, and the difference shows after a year. Five signs to check before installation, and how the serial and secret code make you the one who verifies, not the centre.

The fear of fake film is justified. An imitation and a genuine paint protection film (PPF) look the same on installation day: clear and glossy. The difference shows after a year or two, when one of them yellows or peels, and by then the money is paid and the centre tells you "that's from the washing".
That's why the right question isn't "does the film look good?". The question is: "how will I confirm that what was installed is what I paid for?".
How do I know the paint protection film is genuine?
Not by eye, and not by touch. You know from three things you can go back to later: a box you saw before installation, a number printed on it, and a warranty you can verify yourself without asking the centre.
5 signs to check before installation
- The brand name in writing. In the message or in the quote: the brand by name, not "imported film". If the centre won't write it down, that is the first sign.
- The box in front of you. Ask to see the film's box before the roll is opened, and photograph it.
- A number on the box. A serial or batch number you can trace. A box with no number at all has no origin you can verify.
- A warranty you verify yourself. A paper with the centre's stamp proves that the centre made you a promise, not that the film is genuine. Ask: if the paper is lost or the centre closes, how will I prove the warranty?
- A price that makes sense. If the price is far below everyone else you asked, ask why. A film at half the price is probably not the same film.
None of these is enough on its own. It is the five together that give you confidence.
What is on the box at EGY X?
Every film box carries a sticker with two things on it:
- A serial of 12 letters and digits.
- A secret code of 8 digits, under a scratch-off layer like a top-up card.
The serial identifies the box. The secret code is what proves this box has not been activated before.
How do I activate the warranty?
You activate it, not us:
- Scratch off the layer on the sticker to reveal the code.
- Enter the serial and the code on the Activate your warranty page.
- The digital certificate is saved in your account on the site, and you can add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Why can the code be activated only once?
So that the warranty belongs to one car only. A code activated on your car cannot be activated again on another car. That is the difference between a warranty tied to the film itself and a warranty on a paper anyone can print.
After installation: how do I verify the certificate?
The certificate is in your account, not on the box or on one particular phone. If you change your phone or lose the box, sign in to your account and you will find it.
Anyone who has the certificate number can verify it on the warranty page: they enter the number and see that the warranty is valid and issued by EGY X.
Buying a used car that has film on it?
Don't take the seller's word for it. Ask him for the certificate number and verify it on the site before you pay. If the film came from us and the warranty is valid, you will find it.
And if you buy the car, the warranty transfers to you through customer service.
What about nano ceramic and heat insulation film?
The serial, the code and the digital certificate are for paint protection film only. Nano ceramic carries a 3-year warranty with us and graphene 5 years when they are done on their own, but without a digital warranty code.
The full details of the warranty are on the digital warranty page. If you're still choosing a brand, read types of paint protection film in Egypt, and take the ten questions with you when you ask any centre.
